E-SPECIAL: Story behind its development

“If only there was a skincare program that truly made sense to me...” This led Eri Katagiri, M.D., Director of ERI Clinic Omotesando to start the deveopment of E-SPECIAL.
In an attempt to resolve her skin concerns, she had tried many different cosmetic products since her 20s and had gotten completely lost in the “skincare labyrinth.” Although she longed for skincare that focused on the basic building blocks for healthy skin, she found nothing that matched her needs - and thus came to the decision to create one herself.
The goal she set was to develop skincare that placed the highest priority on moisturization, and that did not stress the skin.   Mobilizing the entirety of her medical expertise, she made her dreams a reality: cleansing product capable of removing grime without compromising the skin’s barrier function; lotion that penetrates effectively even when the skin is weakened; beauty serum and cream which serve as membranes to strengthen the skin barrier.
Behind the development of such products was Dr. Eri Katagiri’s dream of having cosmetic products she could use without hesitation, regardless of the condition of her skin.

The four-item lineup of the Basic Care Line reflects her belief that “minimum is best” when it comes to skincare.
Following the development of her Basic Care Line, she embarked on the Advanced Care Line.   This line was completed in response to requests from Omotesando Clinic patients for some “extra” at-home skincare.

The patients in Dr. Eri Katagiri’s clinic were a constant reminder of the importance of inner beauty, caring for your body from within.
While supplements abounded at the time, Dr. Katagiri realized, as she felt the effects of aging on her own self, that she needed more than basic multivitamins and so forth to ride out her life going forward. After understanding her patients’ various needs too, she started the development of her original supplements.
Her goal was to develop supplements with extra functionality that basic products could not provide.
These include Ultra Antioxidant for removal of toxins built up through dietary imbalance or smoking, Mega Probiotic 4000 for promoting intestinal function to boost immunity, and Joint Max Support to facilitate smooth joint movement.
